Las zeolitas son utilizadas para la absorción de contaminantes que se encuentran en el agua, eliminando por completo los productos venenosos como el nitrito, nitrato y amoniacos. Regularizando su pH. Estos contaminantes se alojan en sus poros realizando un intercambio iónico, funcionando como catalizadores para la purificación de aguas residuales. Las zeolitas realizan un proceso de purificación para un soporte de bacterias, como medio filtrante. Para la extracción de sólido y partículas en suspensión y extracción de los iones no deseados.
